Davines is a Carbon Neutral company because it achieved a state of balance between emissions produced and emissions avoided and/or removed from the atmosphere. Indeed, Davines monitors, reduces and offsets all the emissions directly related to its activity: offices, production, energy used in the buildings and company vehicles (technically called scope 1 and 2).
However, according to latest scientific definitions, a commitment to carbon neutrality does not necessariliy require two aspects that for Davines are crucial and that we already started tackling:
- Taking responsibility also for the emssions that are not under our direct control (scope 3) - for instance, Davines already monitors, reduces and compensates 100% of the emissions deriving from packaging life cycle. And that's already beyond what a committment towards Carbon Neutrality implies.
- Reducing overall GHG emissions, to limit global warming to 1.5° C - a carbon-neutral business is encouraged to reduce its emissions, but without setting a specific target
